today to talk about his ninth book. Why is this a question? Paul,

thank you so much for being here today. Oh my pleasure, honestly. Thank you so much

for asking me. Yeah, I can't believe I haven't had you on before so your book your book why is this

a question has quickly become one of my favorite language books of all time.

The sign in my house of a good non-fiction book is how much I read out loud to my husband and he has heard a lot about your book.

The other night I was, I know, I was downstairs reading and he was heading upstairs to go to bed and I was like,

wait, wait, no, I have to tell you this

one other thing. Oh that's good that is a good that's a good review I'll say that it's

starting to annoy people yeah that's a new level a new level of enjoyment.

I'm costing people and reading to them from your book.

And that's really what we're doing here today, actually.

Fasting people making them listen listen to facts from your book.

And there are so many fascinating facts from your book.

So, and I love the way you've organized it with why is this a question because so many things, you know, I did know about language, but I didn't know the why behind them coming into your book.

So the first one is, you know, why do so many

languages have grammatical gender and why doesn't English? When I first started to book the book together, I used this cookboard behind me actually.
