| 1:18.1 | what the cost for the average American family is just to see a doctor, maybe we have to sit |
| 1:26.2 | down and really analyze what that looks like. |
| 1:29.6 | So, you know, the vast majority of insurance coverage from commercial insurers is employee |
| 1:36.6 | sponsored. That is the main way that most Americans get covered. The average premium every |
| 1:43.5 | single year, if you're a single person, is somewhere |
| 1:47.1 | around $9,000 to $10,000. And if you have a family coverage, it's way more than that. It's |
| 1:55.0 | almost $27,000. Okay? That's your average premium. Now on the average for workers, when you're looking at your share |
| 2:08.3 | from your employer, the average for an individual is somewhere around $1,400 a year. And then for a family, it's close to $7,000 a year. |
| 2:20.8 | So if you're thinking about what is the average cost of health care that you may or may not use, |
| 2:29.7 | okay, your premium is going to be somewhere around $10,000 for the average adult, and then your out-of-pocket expense is another 1,400 out of your pocket. |
| 2:43.0 | And then when you look at a deductible, now deductibles generally are going to be around $2,000. |
| 2:50.0 | So the average American, can they afford an extra $3,000 a year out of their pocket? |
