Why am I not a Catholic?

Ten differences between Catholics and Christians.

Christianity has about 2.2 billion people under its umbrella, out of which 1.3 billion of people are Catholics. 900 million are Protestants and 220 million are Greek Orthodox.

Now Roman Catholic Church has went through two main splits.

The first big split happened in the year 1054, where delegation was sent from the Pope Leo

the 9th to the city of Constantinople and pretty much excommunicated the bishop or the leader

of that church there because he refused to acknowledge the office

and the supremacy of Pope.

And ever since then, the Eastern Greek Orthodox Church split from the Roman Catholic Church.

Now I grew up in Ukraine where predominant mainline faith in Russia, Ukraine is Greek Orthodox.

They differ from Roman Catholic Church. And here are some major differences between Roman Catholic Church and Greek Orthodox.

They do believe in the same God, but they have differences. The first difference is Roman Catholics deem Pope as infallible, while Greek Orthodox believers do not.

Number two difference is Roman Catholics believe that Mary is free from original sin, while Greek Orthodox do not believe that.

Number three, Roman Catholic priests cannot marry while priests in Greek Orthodox can marry before they are ordained.

Number 4 is Latin is the primary language used during Roman Catholic services, while Greek Orthodox churches use native languages of where they're at.

Number 5. Roman Catholics revere statues as much as Greek Orthodox revere icons.

Number 6 is doctrines can be changed in Roman Catholic Church, while in Greek Orthodox, doctrines do not change.

Number 7, unlike Roman Catholics, Greek Orthodox do not accept the concepts
