Summary

Jesse hates debt, and you should too! In Part 3 of anti-debt miniseries, Jesse argues that debt is not just a drain on our cash flow and creativity, it also restricts our future opportunities!

The burden of debt keeps us from realizing our full potential in many ways -- starting a business, taking a lower paying job for more fulfilling work, moving to a new state or country -- often in the early phases of life when we are most energetic and open to growth.

Hello, Wienabbers. My name is Jesse Meekham. This is podcast number four hundred seven for

0:09.2

Wienab, where we teach you four rules to help you stop living paycheck to paycheck, get out of debt and

0:13.4

save more money. We're talking about debt, we're still going to do it. I want to

and constraints breed creativity and creativity.

0:40.4

We need more of that, right?

0:42.4

I talked about how that creativity is what gave me the idea

0:46.4

that I could sell a little rinky-dink spreadsheet to someone and then a year later replace

0:50.9

it with actual software that was good and has gotten far better since then.

0:56.1

But that idea that it kills your creativity, I want that to just sink deep into your soul.

1:02.4

However, the third reason, this is slightly related, but I want to dig

1:06.4

into this a little deeper. Debt carries a high opportunity cost. Now if you are not living within your means you are going into

1:18.1

debt or someone's giving you money which I guess that's okay.

1:23.4

But most people are living beyond their means,

1:25.7

and we talk about means, in this weird way,

1:29.1

we say means, that's an old word.

1:31.7

I don't know who actually uses that except in the phrase

1:33.9

living within your means, live within your means.
