Welcome back to the Let's Be Friends podcast. This is your host, Kara. I'm going to be

a solo episode today. I want to talk about why I became an Orthodox Christian and really

why I became a Christian in general, because I didn't

grow up a Christian. I actually grew up not even believing that Jesus was real for most of my

life, or 38 years of my life. I thought that Jesus was a fictitious character in a

mythological book called the Bible, and all Christians were in cults, and I wanted nothing

to do with it. And it turns out I would end up later in life falling into the occult,

ironically. And then afterwards, I fell into Christianity, which was the

last place I ever thought I would end up. But even in Christianity, I kind of came to find out

that it sort of was my worst fear, that it was kind of full of cults because there were tons of denominations.

I had no idea. There were different denominations in Christianity. I had just started following

Christ. I had started believing in Jesus and that made me a Christian. And then eventually I thought,

surely God has withheld the truth somewhere because all these

different denominations seemed to cancel each other out. One had one truth, one had another.

The Mormons believed this. Jehovah's Witnesses that. The charismatics were binding up spirits

and casting them out. But then we had the cessationists

that believed the gifts of the spirit had ended. All of this confusion. So I researched. I went

all the way back to the beginning. I thought, what did Jesus teach the apostles? When Jesus was

alive and here, what did he teach the apostles? And that was really, it was simple. It was

Orthodox Christianity. And I want to share with you kind of the short version of my testimony

on how I came out of not believing in Jesus, came into Christianity, Protestant Christianity,

not even knowing what Protestantism was, and then ended up this past summer, July 22nd,
