| 0:56.7 | And it said about half of buyers are pressing pause on their plans to buy a home |
| 1:05.7 | choosing to wait for 6 to 12 months before restarting the process. And we're also seeing that in mortgage loan application |
| 1:10.7 | volume which fell to its lowest level in 22 years according to the |
| 1:15.4 | Mortgage Bankers Association. But the good news is it's possible that this |
| 1:19.7 | large increase could be somewhat of an over-correction on the part of lenders and as a |
| 1:24.4 | result it may fall somewhere over the coming weeks as lenders better adjust to |
| 1:29.9 | the current high inflation environment said Jacob Channel senior economist at Lending Tree. |
| 1:35.9 | He says rising rates aren't all bad news. |
| 1:39.7 | Less demand for housing could help to alleviate some of the housing supply crunches that are being felt across the country. |
| 1:46.4 | Though it's unlikely that home prices will majorly slump, |
| 1:50.0 | an increase in housing supply will likely significantly slow home price growth and give |
| 1:56.2 | would be buyers more housing options to choose from. |
| 1:59.3 | Of course, the markets are reacting to the Fed's interest rate raise of 75 basis points or 0.75% last week. |
| 2:07.6 | And there's also their projection of another half a percent to three quarters of a percent in July. |
