All right, good morning and welcome for those of you online. This is our second service on Sunday morning.

We have two services, the first of which is the Bible prophecy update that we do weekly,

and now second service, which is the sermon, and it's a verse by verse study through the Word of God

where we're currently in the book of Hebrews. And today's text is going to be chapter 12 versus 4 through 13.

Now the thumbnail and the that we posted shows chapter 12 versus 4 through 12. It's not 4 through 12. It's 4 through 13 because some idiot made a

mistake. And I'll take the blame as that idiot. So for those of you that are here, if I could trouble you to stand, you

can follow along as I read. We'll begin in verse four, if not where you're seated is fine.

The writer of Hebrews continues, and by the Holy Spirit writes, verse four,

in your struggle against sin, you have not yet resisted to the point of shedding your blood.

And verse 5, have you completely forgotten this word of encouragement that addresses you as a father addresses his son?

It says, my son, do not make light of the Lord's discipline

and do not lose heart when he rebukes you

because the Lord disciplines the one he loves, and he chastens everyone he accepts as his son.

Endure hardship as discipline, verse 7. God is treating you as his children. For what children are not disciplined by their father?

If you are not disciplined and everyone undergoes discipline, then you are not legitimate,

not true sons and daughters at all. Moreover, we have all had human fathers who

disciplined us and we respected them for it. How much more should we submit to the Father of Spirits and live.

They, verse 10, disciplined us for a little while as they thought best, but God disciplines

us for our good in order that we may share in His holiness.

No discipline seems pleasant at the time, you can say that again, but painful.

Later on, however, it produces a harvest of righteousness and peace for those who have been trained by it. Therefore, verse 12,

strengthen your feeble arms and weak knees, make level paths for your feet so that the lame
