jesus every single day We are continuing our series of

this month of looking at our identity in Christ and what God says about us. So today we're looking at

1st Corinthians 6 verses 19 through 20 and it says or do you not know that your body is a temple of the

Holy Spirit whom you have from God?

You are not your own, for you were bought with a price.

So glorify God in your body.

So we're looking at one thing that God says about us is that we are temples of the Holy Spirit.

And this is really significant. And I really want to pull from the context of what this would have really meant because this is Paul. He's writing

a letter to the Corinthian Church, correcting a few things that's happening. There's a lot of dysfunction

taking place in the church and that they have going on things that's happening. There's a lot of dysfunction, taking place in

the church, and that they have going on and what's happening to them. And so Corinth was a city

that was actually full of temples. And so when Paul claims that your body is a temple, would have

really shocked their original audience at the time. Temples were sacred, set apart places where the divine

dwelt. And so Paul was saying, you are now that sacred space, God dwells in you, not in a man-made

stone building. And so the problem with the Corinthian church is there was a lot of sexual
