Could you just review basically two things?

One, what the bill contained and two,

was it passed only by Republicans? The Free Exercise Protection Act basically did four things.

It protected clergy and religious facilities from civil action for refusing to form a ceremony

that's contrary to the religious beliefs.

It would essentially prohibit municipalities from requiring that a business had to be open on a day

of rest, think of a chick-fil-aaid for instance, as a part of their business license.

Third, he would protect faith-based organizations from civil action for acting according to their

tenets of their religious beliefs on social services or employment.

And then it incorporated the Religious Freedom Restoration Act, which has been in the news recently.

The Hobby Lobby decision was passed off of the Religious Freedom Restoration Act, which is essentially a balancing test saying that the government's going to try to burden somebody's free exercise religion.

It had to demonstrate that it was in the furtherance of a compelling governmental

interest and that it was the least restrictive means possible of accomplishing that interest.

So that's what the, that's what the four things that the Free Exercise Protection Act did.

As to the makeup of the votes who were for it, it was passed along party lines.
