Sure, I can do an episode about the military campaigns of Alexander the Great.

But really, how much do I have in common as a 21st century person in air condition office sitting in a comfortable chair, the soldier hiking across Eurasia in the Iron Age?

Or really, what do I know about what it's like to be a medieval peasant?

That's why I respect people who've done their best to try to reenact or live through the circumstances of the past.

My frequent podcast collaborator James Early has done many civil war reenactments, so he knows a bit about what it's like to get into the uniform of a union soldier.
