Thank you for joining us for another episode of Apostolic Life in the 21st century. It's great to have you with us here today. It's also great as always to have Dr. David K. Bernard with us.

Today we're going to ask a question about demon possession and demonic activity here in North America. So Dr. Bernard, in reading

the Gospels in the Book of Acts, I think people would agree, it seems like you can barely turn

the page without Jesus casting the devil out of somebody in the Gospels. And then in the book of

Acts, we see the early church, they saw many people, they encounter many people who are demon-possessed

and cast the devil out of those people.

As Pentecostals, we like to celebrate Mark chapter 16.

One of the very first things Jesus says about people who believe is that they'll cast out devils.

My question here today is, I think for those of us who are living in the context of North

Americas, I'm specifically talking about the United States and Canada, it's been my experience

that we don't see a lot of overt, if I could use that term, demonic activity here in our churches,

meaning we don't normally, in a normal service, cast the devil out of someone.

Now, I have heard many stories from missionaries and you've traveled around the world,

ministered on every continent, and I know that things may be different overseas.

So my question today is, why don't we see more overt demonic activity or see more devils cast out here in North America?

Is it because perhaps the devil operates in a different form?

Well, first, let me say, I certainly believe these accounts of the New Testament are true,

that there are real demons that attack people and can even inhabit people. These are

emissaries of Satan. I believe they're fallen angels. They're evil spirits. So I believe those

accounts are not merely symbolic, but real. I also believe and know and have seen and

experience demonic activity in our day.

I grew up in Korea where my parents were missionaries and I saw cases of demonic possession.
