Talk about a crunching gear change, talk about a change of pace, a change of mood

They're rarely going to be more crunching than this

It's time for our weekly adventure into the shallow end

Of our shared time together,

into the world of silliness, seriousness, information that you want and information that you'll

never need again, known as mystery hour. Seven minutes after 12, so we're a little bit late

off the marks this morning, partly because, well, no, entirely because Jackie was an irresistible lady in so many ways, wasn't she?

I wasn't going to cut her off early or in her prime in order to accommodate the news, but it does

mean that you've got to be quick if you want to get a question on the board. Give me a moment,

and I will explain to those of you who don't know exactly what happens next.

You know those newspaper columns? Of course you do, where a reader writes in and says,

why is it that, or what do we do this for, or where does that come from, what does this mean,

who, why, what were, when, whither, whence, even the odd wherefore, what happened, what resulted,

all of those interrogatory pronouns, all of those questions, and the newspaper columns then invite readers

to chip in with possible answers, and sometimes the answers evolve over a period of time,
