Dr. Berg talks about why your breath might smell like acetone when on a keto (ketogenic) plan. This is because it is acetone coming out of your body from the normal breakdown of fat. It may smell like nail polish or paint thinner or give you a fruity smell. This means you are still in keto adaption and not fully 100 % using and burning your ketones as fuel.
What you need to do is:
1. Be strict with your carbs - bringing them below 20 grams per day.
2. Do intermittent fasting as this will speed things up and drop insulin.
3. Consume a little more fluid with electrolytes to encourage the body to release ketones out of the urine instead of your breath.
4. Consume more foods with chlorophyll - vegetables.
