Podcast I'm Oscar Edmondson and I'm joined by Katie Balls and Isabel Hardman.

So Natalie Elphick, one of the most hawkish Tory MPs on migration, has defected to the Labour Party today.

Katie, can you tell us maybe a little bit about who

Yeah, so I think the first thing to say was when the news broke just before

Prime Minister's questions that there was a defection to the

Labour Party. I think of all the names perhaps and I think Isabel hopefully agrees

to me in this so I don't sound completely wrong.

But of all the names we might have guessed as a Tory MP who's about to defect a labour, I don't think

Natalie Elf it would be very high on that list.

She is ultimately seen as being quite on the right of the party. Now she has some

similarities to the labour for example when it comes to housing policy but generally speaking she is known for being as you say

incredibly hawkish on stopping the boats.

She wrote a piece for the Express accusing Kistama and being pathetic on the issue.

Speaking to MPs on the Tory side about you know what what she is like you know once

said to me she's gender critical anti-woke very right on tax obviously very right on tax, on immigration, she supported Brexit.
