This day, January 25th, 1845, the 28th U.S. Congress passed, quote,

an act to establish a uniform time for holding elections for electors of president

and vice president in all the states of the union, which of course, that day, as we all know,

was designated as, quote, the Tuesday after the first Monday in November. Sure, why not?
