| 0:00.0 | All right, explore. It's time for a very quick trip around the universe. It's all about your |
| 0:08.4 | questions being answered in our adventure this week for a brand new science quest. My name is Dan. |
| 0:14.1 | So amazing that you are there, that you are asking questions, that you are curious and inspired |
| 0:19.2 | about the world and everything beyond. I love throwing out your questions. So if you have something you want answered, make sure you leave it as a voice note for me. So easy, you can do it on the free Fun Kids app. There's a big button at FunKidsLive.com too. Really fine, really simple. Just send it over there. | 0:38.8 | First up this week, it's Aula. |
| 0:42.9 | Hi, I'm Ola and I want to know why you get spots. |
| 0:47.6 | Hey, Aula, why do we get spots? Your skin makes a natural oil. It's called sebum. Sebum keeps your skin healthy. But sometimes |
| 0:57.0 | you make too much of it and it gets in the way and even though it's meant to keep you clean, |
| 1:03.0 | it kind of makes you dirty and that's what causes spots. You've got tiny little pores across your body over your skin. |
| 1:09.0 | They're very small openings through which like gas and liquid |
| 1:13.4 | passes. So you're covered in these pores and in each one there is a tiny hair follicle where the |
| 1:21.8 | hair grows from. Now spots form when these pores get blocked by well well, too much of that oil we spoke about. |
| 1:29.3 | Or maybe dead skin cells, flakes of your skin, because you're always regenerating that, |
| 1:35.8 | maybe they get in the way, or perhaps dirt, or if you've been wearing makeup or fancy dress, |
| 1:41.6 | face paint, something like that. Now bacteria can get into that poor too, |
| 1:45.8 | and that can get infected. That's why the spot might be red and blotchy, because it's your |
| 1:50.2 | body fighting the infection. Now, as you get older, as your hormones change and you're growing, |
| 1:57.6 | you might increase how much of that tebum oil that we spoke of that you're making. |
| 2:03.6 | So it's much more likely that you'll get spotty. So that's why when you kind of become 12, 13 and older, |
| 2:11.6 | that's why you might get acne because you're making more of this oil. So there's a much higher chance that you'll get spotty. |
| 2:20.4 | So that's why that's happening. That's where they come from Aller. Thank you for the question. |
| 2:25.3 | Here's one from Nathan, from Belfast. Hey Nathan. Why do we have eyebrows? |
