I'm Anna Weggle, and I love scary movies.

Um.

I like to put a scary movie on, curl up on the couch with a blanket, eight big fluffy pillows, and a giant bowl of snacks.

I love the slow, creepy parts, like in Run Home when the main character is trapped in a haunted ballpark, and he looks up and the ghost of an angry hot dog vendor is right behind him.

Or, my very favorite thriller, Duck, Duck Ghost, the scene where the where duck gives me chills. I think that's what I

like most about scary movies, the chills that go up and down my spine. But not all chills are fun.

Like when I have a fever, sometimes instead of

feeling hot, I feel so chilly. I want to climb under a whole pile of quilts. Weird, right?

You know, my friend Nico was just asking about this. Why do fever sometimes give you chills?

Yeah, when we get fever or if our body temperature goes up, we will feel cold. Isn't that interesting?

When we get sick, our bodies change our internal thermostat

so that our body temperature actually goes up.

If a normal body temperature is thought to be about 98.6 degrees

Fahrenheit, a fever would be over 100 degrees Fahrenheit, 100.3, or 101, or 102, or even hotter than that.

And this is something that I see when I take care of patients who have

infections in the emergency room that a lot of times they'll say, doctor, I feel cold. Can you bring me

another blanket? And I'll say, well, you already have three blankets on you. Why would you need another
