And today I am joined by my colleagues, Catherine Mangy Ward and Nick Gillespie, as well as very special guest, Kate Andrews, opinion writer for The Washington Post. Thank you so much for having me. I'm just going to get this out of the way. This is a bucket list event for me. This is a career highlight. Reason was a big part of my move towards classical

liberalism when I was at college. And I feel like I grew up on it in so many ways.

So to be here right now is a dream come true. And I'm going to stop embarrassing myself now.

She's going to die immediately after this podcast is over. Yes. So now I just want to know what kind of

bucket. But maybe let's not investigate that. Let's talk about Seattle. Let's talk about

Seattle. Mayor Katie Wilson. So she went kind of viral this week for a clip in which she says,

and I'm going to try to read this as neutrally as possible. I think the claims that millionaires are going to

leave our state are like super overblown. And if you know the ones that leave like by. Like by. Kate, I want to start

with you. This seems crazy to me on a number of levels, but aren't politicians supposed to want

people to live in their cities and states? Ideally, yes. And you would have thought that socialist

politicians really want people to live there so they can tax them and have the revenue.

If those people leave, that means less money for all the social programs, presumably they want to carry out.

But Katie Wilson might be one of the most effective mayors of her time.

It was just days after she won the election last year.
