I think it's clear that staying here was not a priority.

In other words, if there was a number that the Red Sox could have hit that Betts would have stayed at,

which my guy says there wasn't.

He just wanted out.

But whether you believe that or that he would have stayed for a certain number, the point

is being here wasn't a priority for him.

You know, if you believe he just wanted to get to free agency and it wasn't a Boston thing, then why did he just sign in L.A.? He just signed a 13-year extension in L.A. He didn't get to free agency in L.A. He signed a couple months after being traded. Or whenever that was, when was the trade? I remember they were only in spring training for a little while. COVID hit. They came back and he signed. So he basically signed with an organization that he had spent almost no time with. So if he was that set on getting to free agency, why did he sign for 13 years in L.A.? Inside of months? Because it wasn't about L.A. It was about Boston. So what's our problem? I don't know.

the Elfielder or the Baltimore or the racial climate. Correct.

Sure. I mean, it could absolutely be that, which would be kind of scary, that there is still a sentiment

in baseball or in sports, period, that Boston's not a place to play for African Americans.
