The Bible is full of doctrines that speak to the incredible salvation that we enjoy as those who have been redeemed by the blood of Christ.

There's justification, adoption, sanctification, our future glorification, and so much more.

But underneath all of these glorious doctrines is another doctrine, one that stands

as the foundation for all of the blessings that we have as Christians. Union with Christ.

And yet for many of us, union with Christ is a doctrine we don't hear a lot about and don't

fully understand. My guest today is Sam Albury, and in our conversation, he makes the case for why the doctrine

of our union with Christ stands at the heart of the Christian faith, and is the doctrine

that has been the single biggest blessing to him since his conversion.

Sam serves as an associate pastor at Emmanuel Nashville, and is a fellow at the Keller Center

for Cultural Apologetics.

He's also the author of a number of books, including One with My Lord, the life-changing

reality of being in Christ from Crossway.

Well, Sam, thanks so much for joining me again for the Crossway podcast. Always a pleasure. Thanks for having

me back. So at the end of this new book that you've written on Union with Christ, you write that

meditating on this doctrine, the doctrine of our union with Jesus, has been the single biggest

blessing to you since your conversion. And so I want to

kind of get into why you say that, kind of what it is, big picture about this doctrine that

it's just blessed you over and over again. But maybe before we get there, could you just

take us back to your conversion and just share a little bit about how that happened?

Yeah, I was 17, soon to turn 18, and wasn't spiritually seeking, had no particular kind of heart interest in the Christian faith, but had a couple of very good friends who were Christians.
