Summary

Of all the questions I receive, the topic of chores is on the top of the list!  Moms and kids are frustrated, angry, and resentful when it comes to this issue and today I'm going to tackle it from top to bottom! Having 8 kids in 12 years can bring a mom to her knees and her home into disarray, but God taught our kids (and me) SO much through working together. The benefits of having our kids do chores are countless!  I'll talk about many of them in this podcast as well as how we scheduled them.  More than anything, I want you to be encouraged that investing in this area is not only lightens our loads as moms but is an essential part of our kids' education! Hey everyone. This is Dorenda Wilson. Welcome to this week's podcast. In case you don't happen to know me yet, you may be a new listener. I am married to Daryl. We have been married for almost 29

0:22.4

years. We've got eight kids, five boys, three girls. They are ages 27 down to 13. We have four

0:30.1

grandkids and we actually have another one on the way, which we are super excited about. I'm telling

0:34.9

you the grandparenting gig is the best. I always say it's the reward

0:39.2

for not killing your teenagers, right? We also have been homeschooling for over 23 years. Homchooling has been

0:49.2

by far one of the best and most important decisions that we ever made. Wouldn't change a thing about it.

0:55.7

Love the fact that we've homeschooled our kids.

0:58.8

And today, I'm going to talk about something somewhat homeschool related.

1:04.0

It is chores.

1:05.2

We are going to talk about chores today because by far it is one of the top subject matters that I get questions on all the time.

1:16.1

And we're going to talk about that in just a minute. But for right now, I want to encourage you to go

1:21.4

check out my book, The Unhurried Homestooler on Amazon. It is a simple, mercifully short book on homeschooling because you know what,

1:29.7

those of us who are homeschooling, we don't have time to read big, thick books. Like just get to the

1:35.0

point, right? Give me the nuts and bolts. And that's what this book is about. I encourage you to go

1:38.8

check it out if you haven't done so. Also, I've written another book called Unhurried Grace for a mom's heart. This is a 31-day

1:46.8

devotional. And it is really written just for moms and even just for homeschooling moms. It can be for

1:54.6

any mom, but there's probably at least five devotionals in there directly related to homeschooling

1:59.4

moms. So I encourage you to check that out,

2:01.6

especially if you're having a hard time being in the word, staying in the word, which we all

2:05.7

struggle with. We fall off the wagon. We just got to get back on. And hopefully this book can

2:10.3

help you do that. You can go check it out on Amazon. Also, I wanted you to know that this podcast

2:16.5

has been brought to you by teaching textbooks.
