| 0:00.0 | Hello and welcome back to Sochiology 101. Today we're going to be talking about something that I think is probably the most practical issue with regard to our |
| 0:21.1 | sociological differences with the reformed tradition. And this really gets to the heart of |
| 0:27.4 | the matter because it talks about how we as Christians defend what would be called |
| 0:33.7 | the Christian worldview. And when talking to an agnostic or an atheist, oftentimes, you'll have different forms of Christianity defending what is called the Christian worldview. |
| 0:44.7 | Now, obviously, Calvinists are going to be coming from a different perspective than those of us who hold to provisionism or some would label us under the bigger umbrella of |
| 0:54.6 | Armenianism. We don't necessarily agree with that label because of obviously some |
| 1:00.0 | differences that we have with our Armenian brothers. But the reasons that we have these |
| 1:04.4 | kinds of differences, even among Christians, is because God didn't create us as robots. He |
| 1:08.4 | didn't create us as automaton. He didn't create us as people who are ultimately determined by him to will what we will. |
| 1:15.9 | And so all the distinctions and differences of doctrines and belief is a natural outflow of free creatures. |
| 1:22.7 | And the fact that we have freedom, I don't believe that the Calvinistic response to why there's so many denominations |
| 1:28.8 | and differing worldviews is a tenable way of thinking about how God works, because ultimately |
| 1:34.2 | you have God decreeing, i.e. causally determining the differences among Christians. He's determining |
| 1:41.9 | one of his children to believe a false doctrine and another one to |
| 1:46.1 | believe a true doctrine. Then he somehow causally determines for them to debate each other on these |
| 1:50.2 | things. It just doesn't make a lot of rational sense in my estimation. Now, it could be just a lack of |
| 1:56.5 | ability for my mind to grasp it. And I you know, and I know my lack of abilities. |
| 2:03.3 | And so maybe that's just it. |
| 2:04.9 | I would probably assume that must be the case if it wasn't for the fact that I read much more |
| 2:09.7 | intelligent minds like William Lane Craig and so many others from our side of the aisle |
| 2:16.0 | who make very similar arguments with regard to the dizzying |
| 2:19.4 | kind of impact that theistic determinism can have. |
