Hey, folks. It's Kevin here. So I promise at the beginning of the season that you would

be hearing from a few of my America's Test Kitchen colleagues. In this episode, I am

super excited to introduce you to one of my colleagues. You've heard her as the host

of the walk-in. You've also seen her on TV on our PBS show. It's El Simone Scott. Hey,

El. How's it going? Hey, Kevin. Everything's going great. How are you? I'm doing awesome

and super excited to have you host today's episode of Proof.

And I hear you've been working on a story that's particularly near and dear to your heart.

Yeah, I've been having this great conversation with reporter Sheila V. Kumar. She lives

Indian American and grew up eating a vegetarian diet for most of her life. And even though

she's a reporter for a living and she's a thoughtful person, she had never really

given much thought to why she's vegetarian. Where did that choice come from and what

does it say about her identity? And those questions took her on a really interesting

journey. One, I could relate to in a lot of ways. Now, I said that this was near and

dear to your heart, El, because from what I know of you, you were a vegetarian growing

up. Is that right? That's right. I grew up in the seven-day Adventist

Church. And so I grew up eating vegetarian for religious reasons. But as I've grown,

I've found my own path for why I eat and how I eat. And so talking with Sheila about

her own journey to answer these questions for herself, really resonated with me.

Well, El, that sounds absolutely fascinating and I can't wait to hear the rest of this

episode.
