Summary

Most of us are naturally curious as to why Jesus underwent baptism. Especially since John baptized Jesus after saying the Bible says John preached a baptism of repentance for the forgiveness of sins! In this video I'll explain why Jesus was baptized and what deep theological truths we learn from it. I'll also tackle some of the false teaching of Bart Ehrman about the gospel of Mark. 0:10.0	This is part three in our verse by verse study of the Gospel of Mark and today we're looking at the baptism of Jesus.
0:16.5	And as you look at the baptism of Jesus, you can't help but go why is Jesus getting baptized like I know why I need it
0:27.6	Why is Jesus being baptized and this actually was the controversy that they were trying to explain to us in the New Testament as well.
0:35.2	So we're going to ask that question, look at why, and we're going to be looking at in this just few verses,
0:40.2	Mark, Chapter 1 verses 9 through 11, just a few verses long,
0:43.6	but it's profoundly important for theology.
0:46.5	That's what we're going to be looking at today.
0:47.5	Some sort of deep theology in the Gospel of Mark
0:50.0	related to Jesus and his baptism.
0:51.5	So first thing we'll do is we'll just read through it,
0:53.3	Mark chapter 1, verse 9 through 11.
0:55.1	Just going to read these three verses.
0:56.7	I just want you to try to just store it in your brain.
0:59.1	As many details as you can get out of these verses,
1:01.3	we'll go over them multiple times today. We'll start
1:04.0	with just a straight read through. Here we go. In those days, Jesus came from Nazareth,
1:10.3	in Galilee, and was baptized by John in the Jordan.
1:13.6	Immediately coming up out of the water he saw the heavens opening and the
1:18.1	spirit like a dove descending upon him.
1:21.5	And a voice came out of the heavens you are my beloved son in you I am
