move the world today. Cracker Barrel says its CEO is stepping down after a tumultuous three years.

Julie Messino tried to update the decades-old brand for a younger generation, with moves

like changing the Cracker Barrel logo, updating its menu, and removing Chotchkes from the walls.

But many of the changes alienated some core diners and conservatives, and the resulting controversy,

which was magnified on social media by online bots, led Messino to scrap much of her strategy, though the

company appeared to be turning around recently. Cracker Barrel says she'll be succeeded by David Dino,

the former CEO of Blumen Brands, which owns Outback Steakhouse. Cracker Barrel shares fell 2.4% today.

New York City building officials have halted construction work at a lower Manhattan

office tower that's being converted into apartments. The stopwork order followed an inspection

blitz from the Department of Buildings after two columns buckled at the former Pfizer

headquarters building in Midtown earlier this month. The Lower Manhattan Building stopped

construction last week. According to the developer, city inspectors said the contractor failed to notify the city about two concrete beams on the top floor that developed cracks.
