A podcast listener named Lewis writes and asks this, Hello Pastor John in Romans 813, Paul

is addressing believers saying that if they live according to the flesh, they will die.

What does Paul mean by saying to believers that they will die if they continue living according

to the flesh after having been sealed by the Spirit?

So Lewis and I agree that when a person is born again and receives eternal life, and

is sealed by the Spirit, united to Christ, adopted into God's family, justified.

This person will never perish.

I think he's assuming that, I'm assuming that.

He will be kept by God.

He is eternally secure.

He will never be lost.

He may backslide, but not indefinitely, and forever God will hold on to him and cause

him to return.

And we believe it because of Romans 830, those who me predestined, he called and those

me called, he justified and those me justified, he glorified, no dropouts between predestination

and glorification.

Or Philippians 1 6, he began a good work and he will complete it.

For 1 Corinthians 1 8, he will sustain you to the end, guiltless in the day of Christ.

So yes, we're on the same page when it comes to the perseverance of the saints or eternal

security.

Question then, well, what do the warnings of the New Testament mean when believers are

addressed with threats that say they could bear, what in the world does that mean?
