Hello, I'm Chuck Ton and I just finished taping Meet the Press with Dr. Michael Osterhom,

0:07.9

Brian Deese, who's the President of Biden's Chief Economist and Republican Congressman

0:12.2

Adam Kinzinger, one of the 10 Republicans who voted to impeach Donald Trump.

0:16.0

So here are my quick takeaways from what I learned today from Dr. Osterhom.

0:21.1

He is advocating an audible on vaccine distribution per a delay of the second shot in some

0:26.4

form in time. He didn't propose how long, but he has got a lot of confidence that the

0:32.1

delay could actually help in the long run, but certainly for those that get a delayed

0:38.9

second shot that it won't make the immunities weaker, but could actually make it stronger.

0:43.4

But more importantly, if we're going to get ahead of the variance that are out there,

0:49.2

these mutations, the faster people get one dose, the better. We'll see what the Biden

0:55.1

team does. This is not an easy answer for them, basically, no matter what they decide

0:59.0

to do. There's going to be a lot of backseat driving, a lot of second guessing. The question

1:03.1

is, do they believe the race to get ahead of the variance is more important than getting

1:09.0

folks inoculated completely? And a lot of this may depend on whether you believe the

1:16.1

vaccines will still be good in a year because the variance may end up taking over. As for

1:21.7

COVID relief, Brian, these seem to make it pretty clear that, look, they're going to pass

1:25.9

this bill in some form. And they're going to pass it close to that $2 trillion figure.

1:32.5

Now, I did ask them about the 10 Republicans and their smaller bill that they were going

1:37.8

to propose. And he seemed to essentially say we'd love to talk with them, but we're

1:43.4

not going to slow down the process. So I think the only shot you'll see at a bipartisan

1:47.7

deal is if there is an agreement by Democrats to slice off a piece of the COVID relief, let

1:54.3

it be passed in a bipartisan basis and then pass the rest via budget reconciliation. We'll
