All right, putting it on the record.

I think the 49ers special teams are going to be better.

Been banging that drum for the last week and a half.

It's not so much a Jake Moody take, although we can get to that.

But Brant Boyer, the 49ers new special teams coach, his assistant, Cole Anderson.

I've heard great things about these guys the last few days.

You might have heard the Bobby Halk interview, the Montana head coach a couple days ago.

He talked about him. I was on the phone with

another just retired head coach the other day who had great things to say about them. And then I

watched Brant Boyer speak in person on Thursday. I was down at Santa Clara and he, he and, you know,

Robert Salah talked and that was the big headline and Clay Kubiak,

the offensive coordinator spoke and that was a big headline.

Brant Boyer was a junior college football player, community college, snow college, then goes to

Arizona, then turns that into a 10-year NFL playing career.

And I'd just remind everybody, this is the kind of guy that Kyle Shanahan, young 15-year-old holding Mike Shanahan's cords on the sideline, Kyle Shanahan, looked up to.

When Kyle Shanahan got his first head coaching job, what did he do?

Hire an experienced veteran front office person to be his GM? No, he hired a guy. He believed it

and respected and knew what it took. He hired a former player, John Lynch, who he liked.

And when you hear Brandt Boyer talk, he talks like a defensive coordinator.

It's either going to be you or me, and it ain't going to be me.

That's what he said.

This is a man versus man situation.
