Summary

Warnings of flight cancellations, a cruise with a killer virus on board, the EU entry-exit system ... Julia Lo Bue-Said, chief executive of the Advantage Travel Partnership, tells me of her frustration about warnings on summer travel that look wide of the mark. Hello and welcome to today's independent travel podcast. It's Wednesday the 6th of May.

0:08.0

I am absolutely delighted, given the circumstances, to be talking today to Julia Lobuet-Said. She is,

0:15.0

as you will know, if you're a kindly a regular listener to the podcast, Chief Executive of the

0:20.6

Advantage Travel Partnership.

0:23.2

And just remind us, Julia, what that means?

0:25.9

1:08.7

Airlines are not concerned right now. Flights will be operating

1:12.3

and people can look forward to travelling this summer if they choose to wish so.

1:16.5

But I find it very difficult to convince people who are saying, yeah, but everyone knows you

1:23.0

can't get visibility of aviation fuel beyond a few weeks and my holidays in July or August.

1:28.4

Look, I think the reality is all of a sudden we're all experts in fuel and we're not.

1:31.9

You know, the airlines have been operating airlines for many years.

1:35.3

They are hedging, they are buying fuel in advance all the time and they are dealing with this

1:39.7

issue.
