I'm Eddie Panero, and in this episode, I'm going to tell you a story about a Japanese warrior who completely changes the outcome of a battle simply by changing the way his men see the conflict, by inspiring them to look at the world differently. And then I'll end with the Ralph Waldo Emerson quote |

| 1:04.1 | the odds and they're very down on themselves. They feel like it's just not likely or not |

| 1:13.0 | So he sees that as a problem, something he's got to fix and he does some thinking, goes to his troops. |
| 1:18.8 | He says, all right, guys, look, I'm going to stop at this shrine and I'm going to pray. |
| 1:26.4 | And after I'm done praying, I'm going to come out and I'm going to flip a coin. |
| 1:30.5 | And if it's heads, then it's destiny, right? |
| 1:33.4 | Then we were going to win and everything will be fine. |
| 1:37.8 | They go, okay, they agree to that. |
| 1:39.0 | He goes in, he prays, he comes out, flips a coin heads. |
| 1:42.2 | And everyone celebrates, you know's destiny has spoken we got heads |
| 1:46.4 | you know they they they were confident they go into battle they win they come out victorious and |
| 1:53.4 | as they're leaving the battlefield you know one of his top aides says uh you know you can't you know |
| 2:00.7 | beat the hand of destiny, more or less. |
| 2:04.3 | And this warrior shows him that the coin is heads on both sides. And he says, no, you're right. |
| 2:10.3 | You most certainly cannot. And I, man, I mean, how amazing is that? |
| 2:18.4 | Putting it right there, right out there that destiny was determined not by some outside force, but by those men deciding that they would win the battle. |
