going to look at one verse in one chapter of the Bible. But I think this verse will

set us up for a day of success because it's going to strengthen us in our ability to trust

the Almighty God who's committed Himself to us. Welcome to the morning mindset. I'm

All right, today we're looking at Proverbs chapter 20 verse number six. And it reads this way.

Many a man proclaims his own steadfast love but a faithful man who can find.

Now that's a very interesting verse in the way that it's phrased. I think at the beginning

when Solomon is saying many a man proclaims his own steadfast love, I think he's speaking about

two things. First off, we all have a tendency to think better about ourselves than things really

might be. For example, we say, oh, oh, I won't fail you or yeah, I'll be there. Or you can count on

it. I'll give you a call. But then as time goes by and as the urgency of the moment wanes,

our enthusiasm for that thing wanes as well. And we don't follow up yet at the same time. We would

think of ourselves as being perhaps above average in our sense of commitment and trustworthiness.

You see, I think what Proverbs is pointing out here is that we all have a tendency

to think well of ourselves and we need to be careful of that so that we can be honest

about our true condition so that we know where we're at and where we need to grow.

Now, the second part of the sentence says, but a faithful man who can find.
