For many years during the 1900s, the name of Sam Rayburn spilled out one of the greatest centers of power in Washington, D.C. Some actually have thought that he was more powerful than some of the presidents who came

In fact, he served a total of 17 years as the Speaker of the House.

But not just any Speaker, there was not a single

man. And yet, he would later look back on his elastious life of power in Washington, D.C., and would say that none of his experiences
