Summary
When he was fourteen, a boy in suburban Seattle stayed up late while watching his younger siblings. His parents were out for the night, leaving him in charge of the house.
Just as he finally crawled into bed, strange noises started coming from down the hall. Assuming his brother and sister were messing around instead of sleeping, he got up to deal with it.
But when he checked their room, both of them were sound asleep.
Moments later, standing alone in the dark hallway, he realized he wasn’t the only one there. What happened next would lead him downstairs—and years later, reveal something about his family he never expected to learn.
