It all started with a phone call. A photographer in Colorado received an offer from a well-known Hollywood producer. She said she needed photos taken in Jakarta, Indonesia, for a Netflix pitch. The contract looked real. The emails were official. He was even reimbursed — or so he thought. The photographer paid for flights, hotels, and drivers, expecting to be paid back later.
