You can't depend just upon your conscience.

You know, the first time I ever went to Austria

and ministered in Austria, I was shot,

because again, I was brought up in the Baptist Church and if you smoked a cigarette you went to hell if you took a drink of liquor you went to hell and all these kind of things and the first time I went to Austria

There was about a hundred and something people in there and they were sitting at round

tables of ten and they served them beer, free beer as long as I wanted to talk. And they gave everybody free beer,

and they were all sitting there drinking beer

while I was preaching.

It was one of the few times nobody cared how long I went.

They got free beer just as long as I priest. And you know what?

This was hard on my little Baptist brain to sit there and see people, Christians, drinking beer.

When I first started preaching in England, we took our kids with us and the pastors, we'd go out

to eat and they'd all drink beer and offer my kids beer and I'd say, say no you aren't having any beer.

But in Austria you could drink beer and do all that but if you drank coffee you went straight to hell you could not pass

goal you didn't collect two hundred dollars you just went to hell if you drank

coffee they couldn't believe that a Christian would drink coffee.
