So the negotiations between the Giants and defensive tackle, Dexter Lawrence.

That was the story of the week last Monday and Tuesday. It then changed as of Wednesday. But Dexter Lawrence wants a contract adjustment. He's due to make 20 million this year, 19.5 million next year. He has outplayed his deal. He's yet to get a new contract. He went public with a request for a trade one day before the start of the offseason program,

a very calculated effort to put pressure on the Giants.

It sparked conversations, Chris.

Yeah.

And as of last night, in Rappaport of Annetteville Network said that the two sides have reached an impasse.

And now a trade, I'm sorry to tell you, Giants fan.

A trade is something that could happen with the situation coming to a head before the draft.

And as we know, that could mean during the draft as well.

Yeah, certainly. I mean, he would be a big commodity. There's a few good decackles in this

draft, as we talked about a little yesterday. I feel like they're being underrated. But at the

same time, when you get past those first, you know, few guys that we kind of talked about yesterday,

yeah, it drops off significantly. But Dexter Lawrence is a guy that, you know, one, you're not taking a fly around. You're not, it's not a college guy. It's like, wait, we've seen this guy play at an extremely high level, his whole career, really. And he's one of the best run stoppers in football. And he's incredible at pushing the pocket and rushing the passer that way. So, again, I don't have any inside info here, but I just wonder too, like, you know, sometimes when they get impasse just means, hey, we're having a little disagreement on some of the language of the contract, and we're annoyed by this. And, you know, maybe the agent calls Ian Rappaport to go, yeah, we're not making a lot of headway here. We're having a major impasse. I don't know if this is going to get done. You can go ahead and report that. And it just puts pressure on the Giants in the situation for maybe Dexter Lawrence and his team to get what they want here. I'm still hopeful. I'm hopeful and just the fact of what you've heard me talk about.

You know, one, it's the biggest, and you've mentioned it too, it's the biggest first test here

with John Harbaugh, the new regime, and within the team itself. There's not a lot of elite

areas on the football team. The one thing you could look at to go to this year and go,

ooh, this could be something that changes the way teams play them is the fact of, hey, Abdul Carter, oh, Brian Burns, oh, Dexter Lawrence, Darius Alexander, who I know they have high hopes or and they drafted last year in the third round. So that could be a really strength of the football team, and it's not going to be quite that strength without big sexy dexying in there.

And just to be clear, because I think you're applying a definition to the term impasse that really isn't how the term impasse is defined.
