0:32.6	Back when I was in high school, a book called The Da Vinci Code came out.
0:36.6	And despite the author's very clear explanation
0:39.5	that he was writing fiction, many of the ideas in that book have seeped into our shared cultural water.
0:46.3	In the book, the main hero comes to discover a secret.
0:49.8	And here's the secret, that there was this secret council of old white dudes who got together a few
0:54.2	hundred years after Jesus died to pick which books made it into the Bible.
0:59.8	Now of course these guys they picked the books that consolidate their own power in position.
1:05.0	They changed the parts of the books that didn't fit their personal agenda and they jettisoned
1:09.3	out the books that told the truth about Jesus. You see the truth about Jesus was that Jesus
1:14.4	wasn't really God. He was actually married to Mary Magdoline and maybe he even had a
1:19.5	kid. Now maybe you've never read or even heard of the Da Vinci Code, but my guess is that you've heard that the books of the Bible were corrupted over time and that at some point this council of old white dudes picked which books were in and they threw the
1:34.9	rest onto the trash heap of history. It doesn't help at all that organizations
1:39.8	like the History Channel know that they can make a pretty penny peddling this exact story
