On September 19, 19, 1952, a young woman was brutally killed not far from home,

in a case that, though it remains unsolved, had more than a handful of theories that may or may not

point to who her killer is. So if you like your coffee hot, but your bones chilled, sit back and

On the night of September 19th, 1952, 22-year-old Betty Shanks, in the company of two other

students from her night class at Brisbane Commercial High School, began the journey back

to her parents' home in Grange, Australia.

Just under a five-mile

journey between the two points, the three students were driven part of the way by their lecturer,

Edward Milliken, and Betty, left near Tram Stop 19 in Windsor, boarded the tram car for the second

half of the journey. She exited at 9.32 p.m. and made her way towards Thomas Street.

This was the last time anyone saw Betty Shanks alive and well. By 1.30 a.m., her father, who was up

waiting for her return, decided to report Betty missing. Unfortunately, the search wouldn't have to last for long

when just before 6 a.m. the following morning, a neighbor walking outside to grab the paper,
