You’re a latch key child who always arrives home before your brother and you call mom to let you know your home, it is a routine that is followed daily. One day you hear the phone ring and answer expecting it to be your mom because she forgot to tell you something. Instead on the other line is a man who claims to work with your mother and he wants your help in picking out a gift for your mom’s recent promotion at work. Since you’ve been fighting with your mom you think this is a great idea and schedule to meet this man on Friday, October 27, 1989. You are told to keep this a secret but you end up telling your brother and a friend. You don’t know it yet but you just set up your kidnapping and murder.This is what happened to 10-year-old Amy Mihaljevic, a fifth-grader from Bay Village Middle School, which is a suburb about 10 miles west of Cleveland. And the best way to recognize him is a change of character. Brandon says the kidnapper may have become anxious, lost sleep or weight, and may drink heavily or turn to drugs.
