0:13.8	Right now we're in the middle of our Christmas series. But starting in January, we're
0:17.9	getting back to the basics. We're going to go through the first books of the Bible
0:21.4	and of course we're going to start in the first book the
0:23.5	book of Genesis. Invite a friend to join you on the journey. It all starts January
0:28.2	1st. In the ancient near east kings were a standard fair.
0:34.0	There was nothing unusual about being ruled by a king.
0:37.5	But in the United States of America, we don't like kings.
0:41.2	We don't have kings. Our country was started by overthrowing a king. So when we hear
0:46.8	that Jesus is a king, we're not sure that's good news. Today we're going to talk about two different kinds of kings and
0:55.1	two different kinds of kingdoms. Here's Matthew chapter 2 verses 1 to 3.
1:00.8	Listen for both kings in these verses after Jesus was born in
1:06.0	Bethlehem in Judea during the time of king Herod okay that's the first king
1:10.2	magi from the east came to Jerusalem and said,
1:13.8	where is the one who has been born King of the Jews?
1:17.1	That's the second king.
1:18.7	We saw his star when it rose and have come to worship him.
1:22.3	When King Herod heard this, he was disturbed and all Jerusalem
1:26.7	with him. So you heard two kings, right? King Herod and King Jesus, the one who was born King of the Jews.
1:34.4	So this is a story about two kingships.
1:38.0	One kingship is built on fear and violence, the others on love, one is going to be built on control, the other on freedom.
