I'm Cindy U and I'm joined by James Forsy.

So this morning Dominic Rabe gave another broadcast, and this is what he had to say.

The best central assessment was that you would see a slow deterioration from the end of the drawdown in September and that Kabul would not have fallen for several months after that.

So it was an intelligence failing?

I think there's clearly questions around the assessment was clearly wrong.

But first of all, that was shared widely across international partners.

And that's certainly not the foreign office's lead responsibility,

but we of course planned accordingly.

Katie, what did you make of his broadcast round this morning?

Well, we know that of all the ministers closely involved in the evacuation of UK citizens and

Afghans from Afghanistan is Dominic Raab, who's received the most criticism.

And I think we could see today from that morning round the fact that he was almost fighting back.

It was a rabbed fight back.

You saw the foreign secretary talk about how delays or the fact that UK was taken aback wasn't a personal fault of his because he was on a beach.

But instead he pointed to defence intelligence.

And I think you can start to see a narrative coming from the Foreign Office,

which is seeking to absolve them of some of the blame that has been placed in their direction.
