I'm Pastor Mike Winger and this is Bible Thinker the program dedicated to thinking

biblically about everything. There is a lot of debate about Jesus's self-identity, who Jesus thought Jesus was.

And some people attack the Christian faith,

or should I say challenge Christian doctrine,

by saying that Jesus never even wanted you to believe the things you believe about

him.

This is definitely not true, but one of the ways you can establish who Jesus thought he was

is the titles Jesus used for himself.

In particular, the title Son of Man.

It's the most common title Jesus used for himself and it tells us a lot about who Jesus

was. Some of us probably don't realize this. We just

tend to think son of man refers to the humanity of Christ, but it actually

refers to a lot more. And it fits here in our Jesus in the Old Testament series.

The reason why I'm doing this is because when Jesus uses the term son of man,

that has a heavy value-laden, you know, meaning from the Old Testament. so Jesus is using a title that he didn't

invent that came from the old test that R I should say he invented it but just

before his incarnation and this comes with a lot of weight behind it. And we're going to look into that today.

It's a key to knowing who Jesus was. In Matthew 16, verse 13, I'll say this by the way.
