So I am going to start and then your pastor is going to come and I know that God is going to minister to you through his word.

Let me ask you this question. What do you think of when you hear the word Christian?

What do you think of when you hear the word Christian?

Well, quite honestly it depends on who you ask, doesn't it? I mean if you ask one person what do you think of when you hear the word Christian?

They might say I think of someone whose life was transformed by Christ. They were one way and then they were totally changed.

If you ask someone else they may say well I think of someone who is kind of an out of touch deceived idiot who is leaning on an imaginary crutch.

It depends on who you ask. If you say what is a Christian some people might say oh that's a person who is very loving, very forgiving, very generous, very benevolent.

That's a person who is like Christ. Someone else might say oh no no Christians they are judgmental, narrow-minded and legalistic.

What do you think of when you hear the name Christian? Some would say oh no they are known for their love, they are known for their compassion, they are known for their faithfulness and their integrity.

Others would say you know what they are known for what they are against and they are against everything fun, they don't drink, they don't smoke, they don't chew and they don't run with girls who do.

They are against everything and most of all they are against each other. They can't get along.

What do you think of when you hear the name Christian? What's interesting is Jesus never called people to be Christians.

Nothing wrong with the term I use it all the time but it means different things to different people. In fact the phrase Christian was first used early on to make fun of those who were followers of Christ.

It was a word Christian news and it was a group of non-believers basically saying you all think you are a bunch of little Christs, you are like little mini-meas, you are just like little immentators which in many ways would have been flattery to them but it was used as a derogatory term.

Jesus never asked anyone to be a Christian in his language he asked them to be something else. Jesus called people to be his disciple.

Look at what scripture says, Matthew 9.9 in the New Living Translation says this, as Jesus was walking along he saw a man named Matthew sitting at a tax collector's booth.
