Today I'm going to be talking about this vexing and perplexing question.

Who denies, if anyone, that the Novus Ordo Mass is invalid?

The answer may surprise you.

And to be so doing, I will be joined by the eminent Phil Lawler of Catholic

culture blog. Also, Phil is the author of another Sophia book in 2021. Phil, thank you for

joining me. Can you introduce yourself and your book from 2021 Contagious Faith?

Sure.

Myself, well, you just introduced me.

So the book, Contagious Faith, was my response to the closing of the churches during the

epidemic.

I was appalled by it.

I couldn't understand how our church leaders would turn off

the sacraments at a time when we needed them. And I make the argument in the book that

actually faith is what we need more than ever in a time of sickness. And the response was just, it was terrible.

It was wrong.

Is it fair to characterize your position as tending toward over the latter half of the

Francis Pontificate anyway, tending toward the view that there's maybe a bigger and bigger problem,

I don't know if it's an ecclesiological problem,

but a problem in the Curia at the top,

then you recognized in the first half of the pontificate.

That's not much of a stretch.
