0:15.4	series right now. We're exploring the stories around Jesus's birth and the prophecies
0:20.1	pointing forward to it. Christine and I have several friends who have recently had a child or a grandchild,
0:27.0	and when we sent them text with best wishes asking if they need any help,
0:31.0	they all responded the exact same way.
0:33.4	They sent a picture of the baby and told us the baby's name.
0:37.0	A baby's name is a really big deal.
0:39.8	You already know that, right?
0:41.2	It's why parents spend so much time thinking about what
0:44.1	they're going to name their child before the child ever arrives. Having a
0:48.1	baby has always been a joyous occasion, so it's no surprise that we read in
0:52.4	Luke Chapter 1 that Zechariah and Elizabeth are happy
0:56.4	when they have their baby boy. They name him John and it turns out that name is a really big deal.
1:03.4	We'll get to the significance of the name
1:05.6	in just a moment, but for now know
1:07.7	that this baby grows up to be John the Baptist.
1:10.8	Baptist wasn't his last name. It's not like this was Zecoriah and Elizabeth
1:15.7	Baptist and their son John. Nor was John the first Baptist. Baptist is not
1:21.6	referring to his denomination. Obviously there weren't any
1:25.1	denominations around at this time. You can think of Baptist as kind of like his
1:30.2	nickname. It distinguishes him from the other Johns. He's the John that baptized
