today's devotional. Hey, welcome to the Daily Drive. So grateful that you would hang with us for just a few

minutes a day. My name is Bro, and we've been walking through the book of James together,

and we left off yesterday in chapter three, where he's been talking about the power of words,

and, as he calls it, the untameability of our tongue. He calls it a restless evil full of deadly poison,

says it corrupts and controls the whole person, and he tells us that it's set on fire by

hell itself. So, yep, the tongue is a big deal. Reminds me of Proverbs 1821 that says the tongue

has the power of life and death. And man, we've all been on the receiving and the giving end

of that, haven't we?

You know, I've had so many people speak life into me through the years. Their words of encouragement,

words of wisdom and inspiration, the direction and confidence they've given me has just made a huge

difference in the trajectory of my life. And I've had plenty of people who have tried to kill my spirit with their words as

well. Words of rejection, exclusion, criticism, slander gossip, all of those intended to wound

me in some way. You know, Jesus called the enemy of our soul our accuser, and that he will

use all of those words. He'll put them on repeat to remind us how useless,

worthless, and less than we actually are. And some of us still hear those words that were said

to us from the kindergarten playground. And that's why it's so important to let the words of God

reside in our hearts. Because when talking about you and me, God uses words like priceless, chosen, desirable, worthy,
