All right. Good people. Hello. Today is Thursday, October the 30th, lots to get into today. |
| 0:56.0 | Going to be kind of a heavy one because, well, today ending in why, and we are still living as |
| 1:00.9 | human beings in America. So last night, I was a panelist on a forum that was hosted by the |
| 1:07.0 | Working Families Party. Shout out to them. It is a third party that I absolutely support and |
| 1:11.6 | appreciate. And they're not like the third parties that only parachute in to try to have presidential |
| 1:16.5 | candidates. They actually do things on the ground. So they run candidates at the local level. They fight |
| 1:21.5 | for families. This is a black led organization. Shout out to Maurice Mitchell and the other amazing |
| 1:26.5 | people who are doing the work |
| 1:27.6 | of spearheading this current edition of the Working Families Party. And I will also say that |
| 1:32.9 | this is an example of a third party that actually does amazing good work and they function |
| 1:37.3 | really well within our existing system. So for those of you who have heard me talk about the |
| 1:41.8 | Working Families Party before and we've had Maurice Mitchell on my show before, probably we'll have him back. |
| 1:46.6 | But you've heard me talk about them before because they're extraordinarily effective because they do all the work on the ground. |
| 1:52.3 | So what I mean by that is when you're running local candidates, like, say, Attorney General Letitia James, when she was running for New York City Council before she became our Attorney General, |
| 2:02.2 | she ran as a Working Families Party candidate. And so this is a party that basically will, |
| 2:08.1 | oftentimes when you're going into the voting booth in New York City, you will see the Democratic |
| 2:11.9 | candidates and the Working Family Party candidates are often one of the same. Not always, but often |
| 2:16.8 | one in the same. |
| 2:24.2 | And the Working Families Party has allowed for community members, voters to have a political party that is going to be much more centered on the needs of working families. |
| 2:28.8 | And so we're in a situation where we appreciate what third parties can do. Sometimes third parties are |
| 2:35.6 | complete spoilers like a Jill Stein or Dr. Cornell West. I know, you know, Dr. Cornel West scholar, |
