What I loved about the book and I thought was sort of exciting about the movie was this,

was the families a kind of microcosm of the culture in some way,

this sort of that line of Murray's,

that families, the cradle of the world's misinformation.

In this episode, an American

family attempts to deal with a cataclysmic event in director Noah Baumbach's apocalyptic black

comedy, White Noise. Bombach's film unveils the story of Jack Gladney, his wife Babette,

and their family, who must grapple with the universal mysteries of love,

death, and happiness in an uncertain world, after their lives are upended by a catastrophic

train accident that spreads chemical waste over their town. In addition to White Noise,

Bonbach's other directorial credits include the feature films Marriage Story,

the Meyerowitz stories, new and selected, Mistress America, Francis Ha, and kicking and screaming.

Following a screening of the film at the DGA Theater in Los Angeles, Bombach spoke with

director Todd Field about filming white noise.
