If you like what you're about to hear, go ahead and give us five stars and then tell everybody that you know. And if you don't like it, just, child, keep it to yourself and pray our strength. Okay? Thank you so much. |
| 0:37.6 | Also, don't forget to check out my YouTube page, Lurie Daniel Favor's Media, where you should subscribe, like, and share, because then you'll get notified when I post videos from my show, which I do just about every single day and when I go live with my YouTube audience. We got a lot to get to this morning. it's going to feel kind of like sipping from a fire hose in terms of content because we got a limited amount of time and I got a lot to explain. And it's all really about the things that we talk about regularly here in Black Talklandia, race, equity, and justice. Now, I want to remind all of you that I had coined this phrase called W.E.I. White entitled and incompetent. And the reason I coinedI, white entitled and incompetent. |
| 1:11.2 | And the reason I coined the phrase |
| 1:12.8 | white entitled and incompetent, |
| 1:14.0 | and I strongly encourage all of you |
| 1:15.6 | to use the phrase white entitled and incompetent |
| 1:18.0 | as opposed to using DEI. |
| 1:19.9 | And the reason I had to come up with this phrase |
| 1:21.6 | was because when we saw how the Trump administration, |
| 1:24.0 | when they came into office, |
| 1:25.1 | was basically doing everything that they could |
| 1:27.4 | to essentially |
| 1:28.5 | create a situation where, you know, none of the blacks could stay. Like all the blacks had to go. |
| 1:34.7 | People began saying that their replacements, the people that the Trump administration was using |
| 1:39.0 | to replace these very overly qualified black people, folks were saying that they were DEI hires. |
| 1:44.0 | But that to me seemed really incomplete because if you are a diversity, equity, very overly qualified black people, folks were saying that they were DEI hires. |
| 2:21.1 | But that to me seemed really incomplete because if you are a diversity, equity, and inclusion hire, the reality is you are better than the people who got there just on what they like to pretend is merit. And here's how I will explain this so that we're all on the same page. I've done this many, many times, but for today's conversation, I just want to make sure we're all together. Diversity, equity, and inclusion was created as a hack to white people's racism. White Americans had participated in a multi-century long effort in a campaign to basically say it didn't matter how qualified you were as a black person. It didn't matter how qualified you were as a non-white person of any community. If you were not considered white, and that whiteness evolves, right, because at one point Italians weren't white, Irish weren't white, |
| 2:24.9 | whiteness is a function of political decision-making. And so if you were not considered white at that time, you were not going to be allowed to be evaluated for a position. You |
| 2:29.1 | weren't going to be able to compete. You were basically going to be excluded without regard |
| 2:33.5 | to your meritorious deserving capacity, right? |
| 2:36.3 | And so diversity, equity, and inclusion was a hack to basically disrupt what Lyndon B. Johnson |
