All right, welcome on to Hollinger and Duncan, end of August edition, Sort of the Dog Days, although we have a little bit to discuss here before we get into more of these great mailbag questions that all of our listeners were kind enough to send on Twitter.

But what do you want to talk about first here in terms of what's happened over the last

couple of weeks? Well, I think the RJ Barrett slash Donovan Mitchell situation is definitely

the most interesting topic, right? That has kind of, I think, the most league-wide ramifications.

Yeah, what were your initial thoughts hearing that Barrett has agreed to an extension? You

probably actually know this better than I do, but I think it's, you know,

107 guaranteed could be worth up to 120 over four years.

You can correct me if I'm wrong there.

I believe that's about correct.

I haven't actually seen the, you know, all the fine print on it.

I do generally think extensions for players in this year's class are going to turn out to be

good value as long as they are at least somewhat within reason. I mean, obviously, don't, you know,

don't go max go got batazzae or anything. But, you know, for a starting caliber player,

I think 25 million, you know, the way the cap is going is going to seem like, eh, you know.

So I just don't see a ton of downside risk in that for the Knicks, even if you think

R.J. Barrett isn't what your idea is of a $25 million player. I think that that $25 million

player in your head is actually going to be like a $40 million player

as we get a few years down the line and into the new TV money.

So didn't have a problem with the Knicks agreeing to the extension.

Poison pill is in place, but actually still plausible for them to put Barrett into Donovan-Mitchell trade at that number.
